Description: International legal and financial records of Dorothy Elmhirst. The series includes correspondence with legal counsellors and financial managers in New York and London, particularly Milton Rose of Baldwin, Todd & Young (New York) and Fred Gwatkin of McKenna & Co (London). Other records include copies of audit statements, and records of the incorporation, management, and liquidation of investment companies. An important subseries includes detailed reports to Dorothy Elmhirst on wide-ranging financial and legal matters pending between 1939 and 1949.

Tax records include court documents for tax appeals in the 1920s and 1930s. Other tax records include accounting information summaries by Price Waterhouse & Co in the 1940s and 1950s.

There are also records of the establishment of trust funds. The series includes records of investment companies benefitting Dartington Hall. Extensive legal and financial records dating from 1925 were found in 2003 and have been added to the existing series.
