DWE LECTURES
Administrative History: Dorothy Elmhirst served as a volunteer speaker during WWII. In 1941 and 1942 she toured America with Leonard Elmhirst, speaking in 40 states about Britain and the War. Returning to England, Dorothy served as a volunteer speaker for the Ministry of Information from 1942 through 1945, usually discussing America.
Appendices for this include historical articles about the development of the arts at Dartington, written by Beryl de Zoete and Richard Elmhirst. Later records include histories and lectures about the development of the arts at Dartington, especially theatre. There is also information on the reconstruction of the East Wing of the Hall, and the opening of the Devon Centre for Further Education there in 1963.
