Description: This series contains records and papers of Wilfred E Hiley relating to 20th century British woodland management and forestry . The records were primarily accumulated by Hiley through his role as forestry advisor at Dartington Hall (1931-1958) and as chairman of Dartington Woodlands Ltd, President of the Royal Forestry Society of England and Wales (1950-1952), and through his active involvement in professional associations including the United Kingdom Forestry Committee. Later records in the series were accumulated primarily by Leonard Elmhirst and concern the completion of Hiley's posthumously published book, A Forestry Venture, the revision and editing of Hiley's book, Woodland Management, and the disposition of Hiley's collection of foreign books on forestry to the Oxford Forestry Institute (1986).
