Description: About 54 boxes of Leonard Elmhirst's agricultural economics papers were donated to the Museum of English Rural Life at the University of Reading in 1991. This series therefore consists only of papers relating to this donation and to the founding and history of Dartington House, Oxford.

In general, these records document Leonard Elmhirst's attempt to bring together at Dartington House, Oxford, the Institute of Agrarian Affairs (IAA), the Institute for Research into Agricultural Economics (IRAE) and the Commonwealth Agricultural Bureau (CAB) international digesting service, and the World Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology Abstracts (WAERSA).

The records consist of correspondence accumulated by Leonard Elmhirst. Major correspondents include: J R Currie; J J McGragor, Commonwealth Forestry Institute; C E White, estate steward, Dartington Hall; and Robert Hening, architect.
