LEONARD ELMHIRST: WATER Title: LKE Water Records of Leonard Elmhirst's service on the the Central Advisory Water Committee Gathering Grounds Sub-Committee established by the Ministries of Health, and Agriculture and Fisheries, to investigate public access to water gathering grounds owned or controlled by water utilities, and the extent of forestry and agriculture that could be permitted in key drainage areas. The first meeting was held on the 12th July 1946 and the committee met eleven times, heard eighteen witnesses, and spent six days visiting gathering grounds and water-works before issuing a final report in 1948. |
